Nikola Bašić is an architect who created an instrument called the "Sea Organ," which uses the ocean waves to create music. The waves push displaced air into the pipes creating one of seven chords. The instrument is nearly 230 feet long and has 35 polyethylene tubes which all have different diameters. It is located in Zadar, Croatia. Bašić is from Murter, Croatia and graduated from the Facility of Architecture and Urbanism. He has another piece called the Greeting to the Sun which is powered by the sun and lights up with random patterns and colors. Nikola Bašić is inspiring to me because I am not always the best at drawing things but I enjoy sculpting objects. For example, when I was in elementary school I always loved doing the clay projects. Also, this piece fascinates me because it is so amazing how nature and man-made creation can be combined into a wonderful piece of art.
